Kotryna & Angus | A Wedding of Modern Elegance at Waddesdon Manor

Lucca Studios – Journal Feature

When timeless romance meets modern design, magic happens and that’s exactly what unfolded at Kotryna and Angus’ breathtaking celebration at Waddesdon Manor on 12th September 2024. Planned by the brilliant Constance, from Mrs T Wedding and featured on Wedding Edition, this day was a masterclass in balance: crisp, classic elegance with modern chic design.

From the mirrored ceremony aisle to the 80s disco afterparty, Kotryna and Angus’ wedding was an experience that was equal parts sophisticated and unforgettable. And for me, it was an absolute joy to help bring their vision to life through stationery that told their story from the very first impression.

A Refined Design with a Contemporary Edge

Working closely with both the couple and their planner, I designed a full suite of stationery that carried a sense of quiet luxury. The couple decided on monochrome colour palette with touches of gold for their stationery. We began with luxurious letterpress invitations, paired with a vellum wrap and sealed with a custom wax seal.

For the wedding day itself, we created:

A luxe welcome sign on mounted board featuring their monogram.

A large linen table plan, over 4 metres tall that hung in the doorway before guests entered the wedding reception space. Framed by their monogram at the top and their guests names written in a modern serif font.

The menus and place cards stole the show, sleek, elegant, and finished with a silk bow. Positioned between crystal glassware and surrounded by cascading white florals from Amie Bone, they became a focal point of the tablescape. This design has since inspired other couples, and it's not hard to see why.

Bespoke vow books, bar signage, and more

Everything was designed to reflect the couple’s vision: classic, slick, and detail-rich.

THE CEREMONY

Favourite Detail

Their K&A monogram was another standout, reappearing throughout the day and into the evening on the bar and even the stage backdrop created by Luminaire Events. A perfect example of design continuity that enhanced every space.

Creating Atmosphere Through Paper

Kotryna and Angus wanted their wedding to feel elevated but not over the top, an immersive, refined experience with a distinct shift in tone from the classic day to party vibes of the evening celebration. The stationery played a pivotal role in achieving that, setting a sense of calm beauty during the ceremony and wedding breakfast, before letting the guests be swept away to the evening disco.

A Note from the Couple

“Laura was amazing from start to finish with all of our wedding stationery. She understood the vision and process was so easy. We had crisp, clean wedding invitations and that theme continued throughout all decisions for the day. The menus and place cards were a focal point on the table around the glassware with florals cascading down the ends of every table. Everyone raved about how gorgeous our wedding stationery was on the day—from invites to seating plans and menus, everything was perfection!”
