Our Story
The First Chapter
Where It Began
Before we get to know one another better, let’s start from the very beginning. The inspiration behind the business name.
Lucca is a small town in Italy and it just so happens to be my favourite place in the world.
It’s one of those places that it is impossibly easy to fall in love with, with intricate lanes leading to gorgeous piazzas that are overflowing with wonder and magic in every corner. Lucca has the rare ability to wrap you up in its warmth, endearing everyone who is lucky enough to visit this beautiful part of the world. It perfectly fuses slow, honest living with a vibrant and vivacious culture, offering you the adventure that you didn’t even know you needed.
From the very first time I arrived in Lucca I felt at home, and I wanted my business to bring you the chance to feel the same way I do whenever I visit Lucca. It’s somewhere that reminds me of a piece of jazz music. Captivating and intriguing at every turn, with the familiarity of an old friend.
“Jazz washes away the dust of everyday life…” Art Blakeley
Meet the Maker
It’s Lovely To Meet You
I’m Laura, the founder, creative soul and heart behind Lucca Studios. Based in Henley on Thames and working from my home studio, I’m completely and utterly
passionate about providing soulful couples with bespoke wedding stationery, bespoke hand-painted signage and thoughtful illustrations.
Having trained in musical theatre and jazz, much of my life has been spent working as a professional singer – Gregory Porter and Ella Fitzgerald can often be
found playing while I create bespoke wedding stationery. In fact, have a listen to Everything You Touch Is Gold and you’ll have an insight into my office tunes. If you haven’t already guessed, jazz is a huge part of who I am and it endlessly inspires my work at Lucca Studios.
Jazz offers a certain freedom, a creativity and the opportunity to offer the world something so unapologetically authentic. Every piece of jazz music is different,
beautiful in its own way, for its own reasons. And this is exactly how I feel about creating wedding stationery for you. Jazz music influences and inspires each and
every detail that you’ll find within my stationery and signage, where every hand-illustrated leaf and flower flows alongside the music.
Lucca Studios was born from a love of words and stories – and although they were once sung, you can now find them weaved within the depths of details, textures and lines of the stationery and signage I create. It’s emotion, captured in the most unique way.
“Jazz is the power of now. There is no script. It’s conversation. The emotion is given to you by musicians as they make split-second decisions to fulfil what they feel the moment requires.” Wynton Marsalis
Nothing makes me happier than working with people, especially when I get to work with couples who are already at their happiest – it’s a wonderful combination and I often find myself counting my lucky stars to be able to do what I do.
You’ll always be my couples, not my clients – real people, real love, real stories to tell.
The essence of your love story, told within layers of ink, hand written letters and the most luxurious details…
You have my word that you’ll be working with someone who cares about your wedding day just as much as you do, and that will never change at Lucca Studios.
With Love,
Laura x
